Opening to amazing reviews, Expensive Waste is a study in humanity at its core. The portraits are of individuals in the Dallas’ homeless community and tell a story in each piece. Meshed with designer logos the paintings were designed to mimic advertisings for the particular brands. While bringing awareness to the issue of homelessness, Expensive Waste does not offend or bait people into feeling pity, but rather allows them to switch places for a moment with the individuals on the canvas. It is the instinct of survival that makes us all the same, whether it is to find your next meal, or simply to keep up with a lifestyle created for oneself.
